This page explains how cancelling and refunds work for paid ExpiryOwl plans. It is part of our terms of service.
Who processes your payment
Purchases are processed by Paddle, our reseller and merchant of record. Paddle charges your card, issues the invoice, handles sales tax and sends any refund. Paddle's buyer terms apply to the purchase alongside this policy.
Cancelling
- Cancel at any time from Billing in the dashboard: open Manage subscription and cancel in Paddle's customer portal. The account owner or an admin can do this. There is no fee.
- Your plan keeps working until the end of the period you already paid for. After that the account moves to the Free plan and no further payments are taken.
- Nothing is deleted when a plan ends. Monitors beyond the Free plan's limit are paused (the oldest keep running), and upgrading again resumes them.
14-day money-back on your first payment
- If ExpiryOwl isn't right for you, ask within 14 days of your first payment for any paid plan, monthly or yearly, and you get that payment back in full. You don't need to give a reason.
- To ask, email [email protected] from the email address on the account, or contact Paddle through paddle.net. The order number from the Paddle receipt helps us find the payment quickly.
- Paddle sends the refund to the original payment method. How long it takes to show up depends on your bank or card issuer.
- When we refund the payment we also cancel the subscription, and the account moves to the Free plan.
Renewals
Renewal payments, and any payment after the 14-day window, are not refunded, including for part of a period, except where the law requires it or where we materially reduce a paid plan (see the terms). To avoid the next charge, cancel before the renewal date shown in Billing.
Changing plans
- Plan changes happen on your existing subscription from Billing in the dashboard. Before anything is sent to Paddle you see what it costs today and what the next payments will be.
- Upgrading to a bigger plan, or from monthly to yearly billing, takes effect straight away. Paddle charges for the new plan from today to the end of the billing period (a move to yearly billing starts a new year today), less the unused part of what you already paid. The new limits apply as soon as that payment goes through.
- Switching to a smaller paid plan, or from yearly to monthly billing, takes effect at your next renewal. Nothing is charged when you make the change, the period you already paid for is not refunded, and you keep the current plan and its limits until then.
- Moving down to Free works like cancelling: the paid plan runs to the end of the period you paid for, then the account moves to Free.
- Moving to a smaller plan never deletes anything: monitors beyond the new limit are paused, oldest kept running.
